There were only 12 attendees by my count; a somewhat disappointing turnout.

This original announcements said this was being held in Studio 5; at the last minute, the venue was changed to the Crown Theater (a better space for screenings).

Robot Carnival (Japan, 1987, 91 min) is a big-budget anime anthology film consisting of 10 segments about robots by 9 top anime directors, including Akira creator Ōtomo Katsuhiro. The music (by Joe Hisaishi), art, and animation are all outstanding. The stories vary from conventional to funny, romantic, and moving.

Screened in Japanese with English subtitles (but only 2 segments have any dialogue or narration)
